Re: Hunsberger
Hunsberger does sound German to me. Must be from a place-name; this is also, what Oxford says:http://www.ancestry.com/search/SurnamePage.aspx?sourcecode=13304&html=b&fn=&ln=hunsberger&submit.x=0&submit.y=0I can't find a place-name in Germany called Hunsberg, but obviously there is one in Namibia:http://www.reisefuehrer-online.de/namibia/namibia_geschichte.htmSame applies to Huntsberg, which seems to exist only in Ohio.Hundsberg is a place in Austria:http://gov.genealogy.net/gov/ShowObject.do;jsessionid=B2409FE3D0853D905B300008C68C3D51?id=HUNERGJN78FCAnd also in Bavaria:http://immobilien.immopool.de/Regio/D/Bayern/Landkreis_Altoetting/Burgkirchen_a_d_Alz/Hundsberg/As the name implies HUNDSBERG is also a mountain or a group of mountains near Heilbronn (Baden Wurttemberg):http://www.rzuser.uni-heidelberg.de/~cd2/drw/e/hu/ndbe/hundberg.htmThis site says, the name may derive either fom the vocabulary word "hund" (dog) or the Huns."Berg" can denote either a mountain or a city.
