Hush
I am trying to find the meaning and origin of the Hush surname. My family believes it is Dutch, but does not know for certain. Nor do relatives know of Hush ancestry any earlier than 1850, so I am uncertain if the name originated as Hush. Other possibilites inclued Huche and Husch. Could someone please help?

Could it be a form of the Celtic name (associated with the West of England) which is found in many forms, such as Huish, Huysch, Huyish, Huyse, Hywis....? That would locate it in the Devon/Somerset area.
My Hush lineage is removed from Wales. It is believed to be Dutch. Thanks anyway.
I am searching my lineage and my great, great great grand parents were Simon and Sarah Hush, both born in 1824 Poznan Poland.
