My grandfather came from Bulgaria to work on the railroad. His name was misspelled at immigration and was logged as VISCOFF. We have several other spellings...does anyone know one of them??

I think the following variants are possible:
VISOCHKOFF (Bulg. Âèñî÷êîâ, pron. Vee-SSOHCH-koff, better spelling VISSOCHKOFF)
VISOCHOFF (Bulg. Âèñîêîâ, pron. Vee-SSOH-koff, better spelling VISSOCKOFF)
Both variants mean something like Tallman.
