Can anyone tell me what the word LOBO means?
I have a dog that I thought was an HUSKY/WOLF, but according to the net she is a ALASKIAN MALAMUTE, but then I typed in the name LOBO and searched, and pics of Wolves came up so now I'm confused. I need some help. She does look like a wolf, but also a dwarf husky. Please help me.Oh yeah and the pics and info on LOBO on the net where in another language which i think is spanish or something like that.

You were rightIt does indeed mean wolf: I speak Spanish (to some extent). Malamute must be a very obscure variant.

Lobo does mean dog or wolf in Spanish. As dogs are descended from wolves the terms in many languages are linked. Wolves were revered in ancient Europe so many names refer to them ...Adolf, Lopez, Rudolf to name but a few ...

In fact "lobo" in modern spanish means "wolf", but in old Spanish it was rather "lope" similar to the italian word "Lupo".
Both in Italy and Spain many surnames derived some centuries ago from the word "wolf": "lupus"in latin.
In Middle Ages Lupo and Lope were first names in Italy and Spain.Regards
