I have always been told that my maiden name is Germanic, but my fahter was adopted, so I'm not sure if it truly is. I know that his birth fahter's family has been traced back to a Hessian solider by the name of Halberstadt who was captured in 1776, but have no information on his adoptive name of Notestine.
