Re: Rozwod? by Jim Young |
"Divorce" is the secondary meaning of the Slavonic word "razvod/rozvod".
Another meaning is: "change/shift of guards/sentries; posting of sentries".
The primary meaning comes from the verb "voditi" which means "leading/guiding/conducting". The the prefix "roz/raz" corresponds to "dis-" (Latin) or "dia-" (Greek). In English, the verb "rozvoditi" , allong with "divorcing", can be "guiding around", "(make horses) walking", etc.
