Gormsby
Is Gormsby a real surname or something made up for a character?

It looks to me to be a combination of "Gorm-" found in several Irish names meaning something like "blue" or "dark" and the Viking English suffix "-by" meaning "farm" or "place" ...It could be a real surname, but I haven't found it anywhere but in fiction ...

The suffix 'by' means 'town' or 'city' in Danish. Gorm is a Danish male name. Gormsby would mean 'The city/town of Gorm'. At least if it's taken from the Danish meaning.
