Belanger
French: variant of Béringer (see Beringer).
Beringer
German and Dutch: from the Germanic personal name Beringer, composed of the elements berin + ger ‘(warrior) fighting with a spear’.
German: variant spelling of Behringer 1.
French (Béringer) and English (of Norman origin): from the Old French personal name Berenger, derived from the same Germanic personal name as 1. It owed its popularity in medieval England in part to the fact that it was the name of one of the characters in the Charlemagne romances.Prodan looks to me like it has a Latin base. I googled it and found both Italian and Spanish names. It ultimately looks like it means "produce" or "production" but in Italian, at least has come to mean "lavish" or maybe "profuse" ...any could be the source of descriptive surname.

Scratching around the net I've come up with the information that Prodan is Romanian, so yes, Latin based. The meaning is given as "foster", which I take to mean foster child.
