I tried a Polish translation site with 'Kosz' ...and got 'basket' or 'bin'. So maybe they all derive from basket-makers ...plausible ...not sure how likely?? We know the ending is simply a diminutive meaning essentially "son of" or "descended from".

Any Slavic geniuses out there, please help!
