Message: "Knocke?" - Behind the Name

Does anyone know the background of the name Knocke? I'm German by background, but I'm not aware of any German word of that name (closest is Knochen). By the way, it's pronounced Nock-ee, if anyone needs that.

Could it be from a place name?, similar to the Dutch Knokke? I believe I read somewhere that the latter is the same as the Irish cnoc, meaning "hill".

Did I say Dutch? Silly me! Knokke is in Belgium.
