If I saw this as a surname I'd say that it came from the English place name Wirrall, Cheshire (or Merseyside).

Sean - Werel read on...Werel was a family local to Suffolk.Upon investigation i found that Worlingham (near Beccles) in Suffolk, is named after the followers of WerelJohn Werel lived next to Worlingham
