My boyfriend is Italian. His father moved here about 30 (?) years ago, from a small island in Italy named Ponza. I'd just like to know more about this last name, as it may be mine one day. It's rather unique, to my irish american ear.

This surname comes from a name of a place Atri. There is a municipality not far from Rome called Atri.
