Landium
Can anyone give me any info on the surname Landium? It could be American, I can only find one US site with a reference to it, but otherwise I can find nothing on it. Thanks, Lora.

Perhaps it is Irish. See the site www.familysearch.org.

It looks like it was in Ireland at that time, but it doesn't seem to come from a Gaelic root ...There is a Modern Irish word, landair which means to partition ...so maybe it's related, but I would suspect it was very rare and doesn't exist there any more ...
Hi, thanks for your help. That would make sense as I do have other Irish ancestors. Regards, Lora.
My Irish surname book, which admittedly was published in 1997, lists no Landium's. The book is based on all the names in the Irish phone directories.
However, there are Landers, Lande, and Landy in Ireland ...but the ending '-ium' doesn't look Irish ...it looks Latin ...so maybe someone Latinized the name ...
