Old Persian

Old Persian is an extinct Indo-European language that was spoken in ancient Persia during the Achaemenid era (730 BC to 330 BC).

It forms the basis for languages spoken today in parts of Iran (Farsi), Afghanistan (Dari), and Tajikistan (Tajik).
