The name originally was Mac Giolla Chomain, Follower or devotee of St Comen (Coman have seen spelt). Cill with St Comen would more likely be Cell, or more likely a cave since my understanding was a hermit. While I have seen a church online in Mayo, my family is from County Galway (eastern) from Mountbellew, Ahascragh, Balinasloe area. This coincides with the location of both the Augustinian and Dominican abbeys in Roscommon. Not seen the spelling Kilcommon here in the US.
