Quite common among French-Canadians, as well as their descendants in Canada and the United States. An American friend of mine who lives in Illinois has this as his surname. He is of French-Canadian descent. The Labelles of Quebec are descended from Guillaume Labelle (1650-1710) and Anne Charbonneau (1657-1729), who are my friend's direct ancestors.
