[Opinions] Garrison
What do you think of the name Garrison? And do you think the nn Garry is unavoidable?

I don't like it. It always reminds me of Mr. Garrison from South Park. (I know it's his last name, but still...)

I think it's almost comical. It's not a word that I think makes a good name.

Ditto.I'd probably laugh if I heard it on a real person. There's also Mr. Garrison from South Park.I do like Harrison/Harry though.

I'd rather be Garry than Garrison any old day. Unless, I suppose, I was actually the son of a Garry rather than the son of someone uncomfortably militaristic. In general, though, I'd rather not be Garry either. Gareth, now - much nicer.

It just comes across as a word name to me, and a militaristic one, at that.I think Garry, Gary, or Garrett would be an improvement.

I don't really care for it, not my style.
I think Garry is avoidable. I think one of the kids on Sister Wives is named Garrison and that's all they call him. Garry is kind of an outdated nickname.

It's definitely not the worst surname gone first name. Of course Garry can be avoided. Simply don't allow anyone to call him that. My brother named his son Michael and wanted to avoid Mikey. He simply told everyone to please be considerate enough to only call the child Michael, he's almost 11 years old now and it's never been a problem. People will only give a nickname if you let them.
