[Surname] German last name
Hello everyone,
I am hoping someone can help me with the spelling of a German last name.
I can only give you what it is pronounced like and that is 'Haitian' it's not the Haitian people, but it's similar to that word.
I just have no glue as how to spell it or what the German name would be.
The reason I am after this name and the spelling of it, is due to the fact this is the only information I have to find my biological father and I need it to find him.
I thank you for any information that you can give me.
Helena.

How are you pronouncing Haitian? In the standard English pronunciation the ai in Haitian is the |eɪ̯| diphthong, which isn't used in German at all — so there is no standard German name pronounced like Haitian. Apparently though Upper German languages such as Swabian or Bernese do have the similar |ei| dipthong, and Heischen appears to be a Swabian name, and Heeschen Luxembourghish, both apparently pronounced something like |heiʃen|.
Is it possible its his ethnicity and not his surname? Hessen is not pronounced as the word haitian, but it is a German ethnicity that sounds like Hesh-in.
