[Facts] Alexande is not an English name
Despite its quite prominent spike in the SSA data, Alexande is not an American English name. It is a truncation of Alexander to 8 characters, due to some glitch in the data acquisition process in New York specifically. For more information, see http://www.nancy.cc/2007/11/08/the-great-baby-name-glitch-of-1989-christop-alexandr-elizabet/

Hmm, I once saw the mystical name Elisabe on a Swedish list. Guess it's not a mystery, then.

There seems to have been a similar glitch on the Australian charts, hence Christia and Sebastia, which are supposed to be Christian and Sebastian.

The strange thing is that Christopher is not truncated in the New South Wales data. Getting to the source pdf file ( http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/Documents/stats-names-2000s.pdf ) I see Christian and Sebastian there, so the error is either corrected by now or it happened during data ingest on this site.--elbowin

Considering half of that submitter's submissions have been deleted, I don't think he cares.I did wonder what happened that year though, so good article.
