I have trouble not assuming Silver's a pirate. It sounds almost as cliche as Cotton would, to me.

If it's a lnfn, I hear it about like I'd hear Siever: unusual but nondescript, not particularly likeable; I like it more than Copper or Spencer and maybe the same as Saylor or Golden.

I think it's lovely, both the sound and the meaning, but I'd only use it on a pet; probably a rabbit, because I read Watership Down at an impressionable age.

It doesn't sound like a human's name. A horse, or maybe a dog. But mostly a horse. I'd feel like an idiot calling to someone using the name Silver, like I should be offering an apple or a dog biscuit.
