Just another spelling of the Scottish surname, Fraser. As for the meaning, that's still being argued over. The popular explanation, that it is from the French, de la Fresilliere, is not accepted by serious students of nomenclature. For a start no such place-name is known to exist. Another explanation, based on an earlier spelling, Frisel, is that its original bearer was Frisian. A more recent explanation is that it derives from a lost English place-name, Freshley, which may have been in Yorkshire.

I've always thought of Frazier as much like Fleming ...coming over to the British Isles with the Normans and designating their origin ...the Frisian islands ...
