Thank you for your reply.
My great grandmother came to Australia as a free settler during the gold rush.1850-1900 She settled in Yalwal, a gold mining town near Nowra NSW
I have since discovered that she was one of two sisters who married two cruickshanks brothers so I have found I have kin right under my nose still living in the Nowra area of NSW.
My great grand mother died at 47 and we knew very little about her background because my great grandfather was very scottish and he pushed those traditions on my Grandfather and the culture of my great grandmother was suppressed.
She is from the Uteatsi family of Azerbaijan,Provence of Utik. Her father was Udis, an ancient tribe of Caucasian Albanians, living in Portugal and her mother was Portuguese.
Michaela
I think the Uteatsi was changed to Utick to sound more European.
