This is a puzzler. I thought it might derive from a place-name but I haven't found any so called.
It is said by some to be another version of Guereque, but that doesn't help much if true. The GUE of Guereque is pronounced GWE, not as in guerrero, and is marked accordingly in Spanish. One theory is that it is Basque in origin. No doubt there are others.
