HOPING SOMEONE CAN HELP ME DETERMINE THE ORIGIN AND MEANING OF THE "LESASSIER" SURNAME. THEIR IS A HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION WITH THE NAME WITH REGARD TO THE REVOLUTION OF 1768 IN LOUISIANA AGAINST SPAIN. THEIR ALSO WAS A JEAN CHARLES LESASSIER IN THE FRENCH SUPERIOR COUNCIL THAT WAS BANISHED FROM NEW ORLEANS FOR HIS INVOLMENT IN THIS REVOLUTION. SOME HOW HE ENDED UP IN HAITAI BEFORE THEIR REVOLUTION TOOK PLACE. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED THAT WOULD FACILITATE ANSWERING FAMILY LINEAGE QUESTIONS. The surname is from French le sassier. Sassier is an Old French word derived from sasse 'sieve, strainer' so this was a nickname for someone who made these items.
