Myles Standish (c.1584 –1656) was an English military captain accompanying the Pilgrims on the Mayflower, who was hired as an adviser (and served various roles as: elected commander, agent, assistant governor, and treasurer) for the Plymouth Colony in present-day Massachusetts, U.S.A.
