I found Ylva on this website, and loved its Old Norse meaning of “she-wolf”. My only qualm is the pronunciation. I’ve been saying ILL-vah, but my friends say YIV-lah. Which is correct?

Hmm...

The Scandinavian way is YLL-vah. No matter where you are here.

ILL-vah sounds too English to me.

Or more correctly...

After thinking it over: YIL-vah

There's more old-fashion Scandinavian pronouncing over that.
