DH and I considered it for a while, mainly b/c we like the short form Ash, but were worried about the potential teasing "ass." Happened to come up in front of my 15 yr old niece and she confirmed that a friend's little brother named Asher is frequently called Ass and Asser.

Asher is nice prononced the classic way (ah-shair), but the English (ay-shur or something) is bad imo. I love that name. :)
