I dunno about this name being Native American, but I was able to find out that it was once an old name for Castell'Umberto in Sicily:

Glad I could be of help. Keeping in mind that this name comes from Sicily, that means it could also be from few sources other than Italian -- such as Spanish, Greek, or Sephardic Jewish. Sicily has always been a sort of Mediterranean melting pot.
