Like Array says, Sinjin (and Singen, which is my father's middle name) are contractions of St
John
.

I've seen Sinjin as a contracted form of St.
John
before--rather like
Sinclair
for St.
Claire
. I've never heard of it being Indian, but I don't know much about Indian names.
