I love it, and I think you'll notice that a lot of so-called "dated" names are coming back into fashion now. My great-grandmother was Edith Mary and Edith is pretty high on my favourites list.:-)

I knew a girl in high school whos given name was Edith but she always went by Edita which I think is a really beautiful name, especially if you say it like her mom did, E-DE-TA

I'm sorry, but I really don't like Edith at all. It's one of those old lady names that I think sounds stale and too harsh for a child today. But, I really like Edie :-)

It sounds dated to me, but it's not bad.

I think that Edith is cute. I used to have a doll named Edith. I think that it is dated, but could be quite nice with a very pretty mn. I like the nn Edie. I guess because of the 'th' ending I'd put this in the same category as Judith and maybe, Lilith.

Well, my name is Edie, and I really like it now (though I didn't when I was a child). However, I have really never cared for Edith. People have always assumed my name was short for Edith, which it isn't. It's just Edie. I was named after my great-grandmother. I can tell you Edie is very uncommon. I disliked it for that reason when I was a child, but now I love it for the same reason.
Edith is actually a very old English name, and I think it would be nice with Edie as a nn.

I don't care for it. I don't think any name is "dated." I just don't think the sound of it. I think of eat it, for some reason.

I love Edith, especially as a middle name. It's old-fashioned but I would put it in the same group as Elaine, Matilda and Honor (which I love)
The only thing I odn't like about the name is the nn Edie which everyone seems to love, I think it sounds too cute.alice x

I used to hate Edith because of a woman named Edit - she is the most unpleasant, snobbish, unbearable old hen I've ever known.
But apart from these bad associations, Edith is really nice. However, I don't like Edie at all.

I LOVE Edith. It's one of my favorite names. The nn Edie is cute, but I prefer Edith in its full form. I just think its beautiful. Unfortunately, I also think that is has take-off potential.~ Arcadia

I love Edie too, but would prob use it on its own, as I find Edith quite old-fashioned

It's quite pretty ... it's dated-ness is the pleasant sort (classic and Victorian-style, as opposed to the likes of 50s names like Karen and Nancy).

I like it! And I saw a picture of a man with his baby daughter in a magazine yesterday, and the girl was named Edith. I was shocked a bit becuase I didn't think any kids had that name anymore, but I don't think its dated at all! Edie is a cute nn.

It's my grandmother's name and I really LOVE the nickname Edie. I'm definitely thinking of using it.
