Elodie is rather trendy because of the actress Elodie Bouchez. At the same time it's not very common. Probably a bit tacky. I'm not a fan of it.
I wanted to add that ay-loh-dee is a bit wrong. There's no "ee" sound in the E of Elodie. lol

Pronunciation

I know that the "e" at the end doesn't make an "ee" sound...it's the "i" that does. Correct? I think this may just be a case of a confusing phonetics system that's geared toward native English speakers.

How would you phoneticize Elodie for English speakers?

You're right!

I would phoneticize Elodie like this: eh-loh-dee, but it's difficult to "materialize" the "é" in English.
