Help[Opinions] Justinian and Theodora?
Would you use either of these names for your child today? WDYT? Do you prefer Justin and Thea? I think Justinian and Theodora have potential ....

Justinian doesn't look right imo. It either looks like an adjective to describe someone who's acting like a Justin, whatever that means, or a combo of Justin + Ian.
Theodora is gorgeous, though.
Unfortunately, I don't think Justin and Theodora sound like a good pair. Even Justin and Thea are too different, imo, but a little better match style-wise maybe.

Yes they were emperor and emperess of the Byzantine Empire. I have a minor in Art History and I fell in love with the mosiacs of that period. Also considered naming children after them but vetoed firmly by DH

I like both quite a bit. Justinian is really cool--I like names with -ian endings, like Octavian and Aurelian. Theodora is also nice. I knew a wonderfully kind girl named Theodora; I think it trumps Thea easily. It's not too old sounding--just classic.
Plus, they were both of them saints, and I've been very into religious names as of late. Good names!

Actually, I don't think Justinian works anymore. It sounds long and complicated, and unnecessarily fancy. Justin is nms either. It sound rather redneck, probably because I've known some rednecks with the name.
Theodora is lovely. I've been liking it a lot recently. I like the nn Thea too, but I prefer both of them with French pronunciation: Théodora (tay-o-DO-ra) and Théa (TAY-a).
I like Théodore nn Théo even better (for a boy only, of course). The frustrating thing is I don't like Theo without an accent at all. Perhaps I should just move to France :-)
