[Opinions] Fern
I've always thought that this was a pretty name. It's hardly used anymore(a plus imo). Since old-fashioned names are back in style, do you think that Fern's popularity will rise again eventually(at least somewhat)? Also, I heard that they are planning to make a new Charlotte's Web movie. I'm wondering if a lot of people have forgotten about the name, and will remember it once they see the movie, and then think, "This is cute. Maybe I'll name my daughter this." Just a thought...

I think it's sweet. But for some reason it brings to mind a tomboy that's mischeivous and not always very nice. :b

There are a couple of annoying F-list celebrities in Britain named Fern. It's quite pretty, but makes a much better middle name if you ask me. I think the similar name Fawn is prettier (again, best as a mn imo).I vaguely like the spelling Ferne, too.

in England i can see Fern becoming popular. i thought of using it but decided against it for this reason. We have a gorgeous young presenter called Fearne Cotton to inspire the younger crowds of under 30's and a middle aged daytime presenter called Fern Britton who everybody loves to inspire the older ones. It depends on how popular is too popular for you, but the Usage of Fern is definately on the increase. i love the name though.

Charlotte is already pretty popular :-)I really like Fern - I've always loved it, and with the new old-fashioned fashion it seems like I might actually have the option of using it, which is nice.

Love itThe new Charlotte's Web movie was horrible (unless they made something other than Charlotte's Web 2?) and, well, a travesty, in my mind. However, Fern is one of those fantastic names that's never had a surge in popularity and feels relatively unloved.I like it a LOT--as either a first or a middle name. It's so green and it reminds me of Fern from Arthur. :) She and Prunella are my favourite characters.Array

Apparently, an even newer one is in production(it will simply be called Charlotte's Web). I don't remember seeing saw any of the movies, but from what you said, I really hope this one is better than Charlotte's Web 2.

Sorry, but I hope people don't want to name their child Fern after seeing Charlotte's Web. It's not feminine or pretty, but rather dismal sounding. It's strictly a plant to me - not a name. Sorry if this offends you.

I like it. I wish it had been more popular at any time, because then folks wouldn't think that the first and only Fern, after which come all others, is the one in Charlotte's Web! I don't associate it with CW. I just think it's a great old romantic nature name, that's not too flowery; it's like Ivy or Clover. I don't think it'll come back much though, just because of the CW thing and the lack of any other exposure.- chazda"I don't want to look like a loser for the rest of my life!" ~ Georgia Ford, on needing a signature

I like it.It was my grandmother's name, and I've thought of using it to please my father. However, my mother would murder me if I did. :-)
Its a pretty enough name. And, looking at the popularity...its not going anywhere for a very long time.Siri

It might come back, who knows, with all these exotic names today I'm sure Fern will come back. Yes, I do remember Fern in Charlotte's Web. But I wouldn't name my daughter Fern because of a movie. Also, for those of you who know the show Arthur, (I have to watch it when I babysit my cousins), there's a shy girl named Fern on the show. She's quite a poet! I think Fern's a nice name, although I would never use it. Hopefully it will start to come back.
