[Opinions] Theresa / Teresa
First off. How does everyone pronounce these two? I've always pronounced both of them te-REE-sah but I have heard them pronounced te-RAY-sah, particularly the spelling Teresa. And on here it says that the Italian pronounciation is tay-RAY-sah, which I've never heard it pronounced that way.Secondly, what do you think of this name and which spelling do you prefer? Do you like the nicknames? Terry, Tess, Tessa? (probably more than those 3 but those are the ones that come to mind).
Much appreciated,
Jamie

Thera
Resa / Reesa (REE-sa)
Rese / Reese (REES)
Resie / Reesie (REE-see)I pronounce Theresa te-REE-sah.I would pronounce Teresa as ta-RAY-sah, if I knew that the person was Italian, Hispanic, etc. Otherwise, I'd pronounce it like Theresa.Therese, Terese, Tereza, and Teresia / Theresia are also nice names.Shannon

Living in the UK I hear te-REE-sah or te-REE-zah. a lot more often. However, I prefer te-RAY-sah (and I prefer the spelling Theresa).

I love the name Teresa. For some reason I don't like the Theresa spelling so much. I have heard it pronounced Tuh-RAY-suh, usually the h spelling, but most people say Tu-REE-suh I think

I like the spelling Theresa the best, it just looks more complete IMO. The nn Tess is cute.Image Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I pronounce them the same.Te-REE-sa. Although I know someone named Teresa and I've found that it often gets shortened to TREE-sa.

I pronounce both Theresa and Teresa the same way: Te-REE-sah. I like Teresa. The h in Theresa looks awkward.

I think it's more of a Spanish language thing to pronounce it te-Ray-sah. I would spell it Teresa. And i kinda like Tess.~Future wife to Adrian and mother to: Marissa Grace and Leah Noelle!

I think it depends on where you're from, and what your native language is.Teresa is mostly used in Spanish-speaking countries, where its pro. te-RAY-sah. I proununce both ta-REE-sa. Its a favorite name. I love the nickname Tess, and prefer it spelled Theresa.Siri

In Australia they're both pronounced t'-REE-za (the apostrophe represents a short neutral vowel).I like it, and can never decide between Theresa and Teresa. I like Tess / Tessa as nicknames, but I'm not to fond of Terri / Terry etc.tay-RAY-sa is wrong imo (having learned Italian for several years). However that may just be because the pronunciation guide has an American accent! To an Australian accent the transcription would be more like te-REH-sah.:-)
