I don't care for the sound of Mitchell Lane. However, if you really want to honor your mother I think you should do so. I think Mitchell Thomas sounds nice.

I grew up with boys named Mitchell and never knew anyone with the surname personally, so it's a first name in my head.

I like Mitchell Thomas; I like it better than Mitchell Lane (only because I hear "Michelin" like the tires). My own combo with Mitchell would be Mitchell Justin, Mitchell Bruce, or Mitchell Robin.
