I like Max as a nickname for Maximilian. I'm not too sure on middle names.

I prefer Max to be a shortening of Maximilian. So yes, if I were you, I would use Maximilian as a full name for your son. I can only think of one middle name for Maximilian, and that's Henry. Thus:Maximilian Henry [surname]It sounds good, decent and sophisticated to me. :)

I love just Max, that's actually my fave form of the name. I do really like Maximilian, but I prefer it as a mn, since it's so long! I'm actually falling in love with the name Maxwell, nn Max, more and more everyday. I've always liked Max, it's nice and manly and will work for a child and an adult. Here's some combos I love:Max Rupert
Max Oliver
Max DavidMaximilian Charlie
Maximilian Darcy
Maximilian JosephMaxwell James
Maxwell Benjamin
Maxwell Henry

I like Max with Maximilian as the formal name.Maximilian Eric
Maximilian Aaron
Maximilian CharlesHard to find middle names for it, though. You definitely need something short and sweet.Leslie, lucky mommy to Scott (2000), Delaney (2002), and Larissa (2005)

I love the name Max just on its own. I hate Maxwell and Maximillian - Maxwell seems very pedestrian and Maximillian is definitely trying too hard. Maddox is OK as a name, but a little pop culture trendy thanks to Angelina Jolie. Just plain Max is definitely the best option IMO.I like:Max Joseph
Max Alexander
Max Adrian

I like Max by itself. I've known a couple of people who were 'just Max' and I prefer it to any longer forms, which seem too pretentious to me.

I dislike all Max- names, and Max is just a nickname to me - not a formal name. I don't like it when the formal name decision revolves around a nickname, as the nickname may not be used. Maxwell may not want to be called Max. If this happens, then you'll just have settled for a formal name. I, personally, rule out Maximilian, as I find it frilly (not feminine frilly, but just over-the-top), and I don't see Max coming from Maddox.Edit: Spelling.
