In the 1700-1800's in U.S.A, I have seen men named Kinchin (spelled many different ways). It was not a common name, but not rare either. I have often wondered where it could originate from?

It sounds like a Chinese name. I saw a man on Tv called Kinsin (he was Chinese), i think, maybe Kinchin is Chinese name too. n/t
