I've been liking the name Carmel. I don't know whether I'd actually use it ... It reminds me so much of "caramel", which is annoying even though I like caramel ;-)

But anyway, WDYT? It would probably be for a middle name. I also quite like Carmella, but I think Carmel is girly enough on its own without being Latinised. For some reason I don't care for Carmen at all.

I know twins named Carmella Rose 'Carmel' and Amanda Shelly 'Amy'. I love Carmel, it is too sweet :)

Carmel is weird to me. I like Carmella and Carmine (car-meen) though.

I think of caramel too. I prefer Carmella which is fairly cute, imo.

Carmel reminds me of Caramel, in looks mostly but I've also heard people pronounce Caramel as Carmel.

Carmella is very pretty, and strangely doesn't remind me of Caramel at all.

Because of caramel (which I pronounce carmel) I wouldn't use it, except for a pet maybe. I much prefer Carmelita. But I love the name Carmen.

I prefer Carmella if any. Camille and Camilla remind me of that name. Maybe you like one of those.

I'm not sure about in other places, but in the U.S. "carmel" is actually another word for "caramel." (Although "caramel" is often considered to be a bit fancier.) For this reason, I would not use it as a name. I like Carmen though.

I, too, am reminded of caramel, and when I was growing up, one of my elementary school teachers spelled caramel as carmel phonetically as she pronounced it (oh, the wonders of the school systems). I think it's too girly, along with Carmella, and I find Carmen not feminine enough. I know a woman named Carmelina, but she only goes by Carm.
