What do you think of the female name Khadijah? It's been growing on me lately.

How are you pronouncing it? I've heard it pronounced with the emphasis on the second syllable, or with emphasis on the first and third syllables (slightly less on the third). I'm not sure which I like better. It's a very pretty name.

I think it's nice. Arabic female names are often very beautiful I find. I doubt I'd ever use one ... They feel too culturally removed from me, and I have a Scottish MacSurname for the forseeable future, which pretty much rules them out! I would use Layla and I love Lujayn.

I believe so. That's the way that I pronounce it, too.
I also find that Arabic names are beautiful and very meaningful as well. I wouldn't mind using one, but I have a very non-Arabic last name and worry that it would seem awkward. :(

I think it's very pretty, but would seem very out of place on someone without the heritage to back it up. I also like Khalilah a lot.

Whoa, Khadijah has been growing on me lately too. I think it's really pretty and I would use it, most likely as a mn though.

though I think mostly for its historical significance as being the name of the first wife of Muhammad, and at the moment I'm quite interested in the history of Islam. As far as namesakes (or name connections of some sort) I think it'd be a pretty neat one since she was kind of a cool woman.
Though it's not necessarily a name I'd use, I do find it to be very pretty. I'm on a bit of a female Arabic names kick right now. :-)

I love Arabic names. They seem so full of meaning.
Khadijah was a cool woman. I've been trying to read up on Islam and she was one of the first people I read about (besides Muhammed, of course). It would be a cool namesake.
