[Opinions] Sydney
What do you think of Sydney for a little girl?
Replies
I don't think I would ever you it (I have a boy cousin named Sidney) but for some reason, I've always liked it as a girl. It's one of the few unisex names that I think sounds good on either gender.
Sidney was my grandad's name so I really can't picture it on a girl. I don't like it on a boy either but it's much too masculine for a girl.
nope...
I don't normally like place names, and this one is one of my least favorites. As Isla said, it's trendy and masculine, but it sounds weak and flimsy to me and I really hate the nn Sid.

I think it's nice. The only Sydney I know is my granddad's (female) cousin, who's in her 70s. It's not at all fashionable or popular here now, so I fail to see the 'modern' or 'trendy' associations that many do.
I really like the name Sydney and only for a girl. I think it's a very sweet name...has been a fave of mine for a long time :-)
I really dislike it for a girl but love it for a boy
I'm in the minority for the responses you have gotten (but in the majority with the rest of the US) in that I like it on a girl and dislike it on boy.
THis is one name I definitely feel is a better fit for a girl. I sounds like a more modern twist on Cindy. It is a bit trendy & popular for me to use myself but I like it when other people use it.
Side note: On a boy, it is very dated & reminds me of a sleazy used car salesman.

Trendy & masculine

I don't really like the name but if it has to be used then I prefer it for a boy.
I only like it for a boy, both spellings
Same here.

It's been one of my favorites. It's under used imo.
I only like Sidney (this spelling) for a boy.
