[Opinions] Meriwether
What do you think of Meriwether as a middle name for a boy? Too girly? My husband's name is Elliot and my name is Mary. Our first son will be named Elliot and we were thinking of Merrick for a middle name (sounds sort of like Mary)... but then I saw Meriwether and thought that maybe that would be better. Elliot Merrick? Elliot Meriwether?

I first thought of the good fairy in The Sleeping Beauty. I think it's cute but really only for a girl. I prefer it spelt Merrywether. It would be fine for a boys' middle name - but I do see the chubby blue fairy :-)

Meriwether isn't necessarily too girly, but I think Merrick would be a better choice. I think Elliot Merrick is a very handsome name.

My first associationwas the Lewis & Clark expedition, so I don't think "girly" when I see it. :o) As for which mn is better, I think it depends on the number of syllables in your surname. If you have a relatively short (1-2 syllable) surname, Elliot Meriwether should work just fine, but if you have a longer surname, I'd go with Elliot Merrick to keep the name from sounding pompous or self-important.

I know it was Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition's first name, but I think Merrick would be a better choice.
