It depends if it's still popular whenever 'eventually' is. Sophia is not just popular, but incredibly trendy. Look at its usage compared to just 10 years ago. That means it will date your child, as opposed to a consistently popular name like Elizabeth which is timeless, albeit boring.
Actually Sophia isn't yet top 100 where I live (Scotland), and I do love it so I see the appeal. We have Sophie instead. It's either #1 or #2 these days :-/
