I definitely prefer Aurora. Allegra reminds me of the allergy medication. Rorie is a nice nickname for Aurora.

Also Aurora's nickname could be Briar Rose or Rose just like what sleeping beauty was called. ^_^

ok, first of course Aurora is feminine..it freakin sleeping beauty's name...but people will call her rory.
Allegra...forget about the medicine..its a pop culture thing that will pass... its sounds musical to me..as in Allegro. Its strong, but pretty. Ill have to side with Allegra

Even though Allegra is a medicine, the sound is much prettier than Aurora, IMHO. I hear ROAR and that doesn't sound feminine at all to me.

definitely Allegra.
The sound of Aurora is ourstandingly shapeless and guttural to me.. although it is pretty looking, and has a nice meaning. I'd use nn Rorie (spelled like that), although I don't care for the nick either since Rory's a masculine name.Allegra being the name of an allergy drug is unfortunate, but it doesn't ruin it as a bright-sounding name for a woman, as far as I am concerned. And the meaning is nice too. Allie is the only obvious good nickname that derives from the name itself.- chazda

Definitely Aurora. And no nicknames.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but I slightly prefer Aurora (though, as many will say, it's slightly difficult to pronounce). Allegra is WAY too connected to the allergy med at the moment. Maybe in a few years it won't be? Rory is the only nn I can think of for Aurora, but I only like Rory on boys. :b

Strange I've never found it hard to say Aurora, but that could be because....I live near a very big street called Aurora that is one of the main ways of getting around. So I hear it alot and say it alot.---------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't actually think of any nicknames for either so I wouldn't use any. I prefer Allegra as all I hear when I say Aurora is "oror" and to me it all sounds the same.

I like Aurora a lot more, especially since all I can think of when I see Allegra is an allegry medication.I was going to name a character Aurora, but it didn't fit. Here are NNs for Aurora people gave me: Rory, Rora, Aura, Auri, Ara, Aria, ArieNot all of them work, but there they are. :)

I love Allegra. It's so classic. Aurora is just hard to say.As for nicknames, I like Allie or Grace for Allegra and Rory or Rora for Aurora.

That's very difficult, as I find both very unappealing and not at all pretty. Neither feel like a name to me, and I do think of the medication Allegra, but that doesn't bother me. I find the -gra ending very ugly. Aurora is very harsh and awkward sounding to me, without any femininity to it.If I must choose, then Allegra.
