I adore Marielle. It's one of my favorites. Some combos I've tossed around:Marielle Charlotte
Marielle Christine
Marielle Corinne
Marielle Elisabeth
Marielle Sophie
Marielle SusannaOverall, I tend to prefer French mns paired with Marielle.ETA that Marielle wasn't in the top 1000 for 2005 according to the SSA.

Marielle is nice, although I prefer both the look and sound of Mireille.

I do, too, butliving in America I've found it's too hard to pronounce when I ask people, so I go with Mirielle. Not the same, but lovely.

Thanks, but I like the pronounciation
Mar-ee-elle, so I'm looking for comments on this name only.

Well excuse us :-/

No need to get testy... I just don't understand when people post about a certain name, then others post about a name they like "better". It's all personal taste and people are looking for opinions on the name they ASK about... unless the poster asks for suggestions or similar names, I don't see the point in changing the subject.

uhm...this is an opinions board, and people give their opinions. As long as they answer your original question, I don't see the problem in other additions to what you asked. Orchid replied what she thought of Marielle under your post. So what that she gave another suggestion. If you liked the suggestion you would have thanked her!(I read many posts where people ask for opinion on combos, then another poster gives other suggestions (un-asked for), and then the original poster replies with: Oh my Gosh! I love that suggestion!)

I realize it's an 'opinions' board. Thanks.
I guess I just am more of a 'to the point' kind of person, and like I say to my kids "just answer the question".

"just answer the question": I agree, whatever the poster writes, it's good to answer the question asked. It bothers me if the people don't do that. But anything in addition is fine. As the person who asked the question you're always free to ignore the additional information. But I don't like it when people are being rebuked for stating their opinion. What if everyone only gave there opinion when asked? All imporant historical figures would have had to shut up then...
And on a smaller scale: Opinions are fine on the opinions board and in the lounge (depending on the subject of course)>, when stated politely. That's what the boards are here for. but that's just my opinion of course...

I agree however I have seen name boards go off on a 'suggested' name, and the original name in question gets swept off the board. It looked as if that was the direction of my post so I tried to keep to the subject matter.

Agree with you mAmy, if you don't like the additional info, just ignore it. Like Mar, I do think it is wrong when people don't answer the question but go off on tangents anyway, but that didn't happen here. Seriously, get over it.On the OP: Marielle looks tryndee, like you wanted to "sparkly up" the name Marie so you added the now semi-ubiquitous -elle to it.

I didn't happen here, because I stopped it before it did.
BTW, Marielle is not just a 'sparkly' or 'tryndee' (nice effort on trying to be 'cute') version of Marie... My paternal great-great-great grandfather was Jean Bertrand Marielle, and my great-grandmother was given the name Marielle Jean after him, her parents came here to America in the 1800's. Her daughter's (my grandmothers) middle name was Marielle, and her daughter (my aunt) is Marie the shortened version. My middle name is Marie after my aunt and I was thinking of bringing back the *original* name.Google the name Marielle, there are many people past and present who have it.
Maybe you should get some facts before making yourself look ignorant.

Gee, Adelle looks ignernt?Oh, dear. Maybe I am, too--because from what I see, she's never once doubted the legitimacy of the name Marielle. She's a pretty bright kid, that Adelle--what she said is that it looks tryndee, not that it necessarily is....As another example, say I go to Adelle and I ask her, "What do you think of the name Galaxy?" If her response is, "I think it sounds like someone parents watched too much sci-fi," and I didn't get the name from a sci-fi show (but instead from the oh-so-beautiful heavens above), it doesn't mean she's somehow dissing me. It means that she has a legitimate observation about the name which other people, who won't know my so-very-deep connection with the name, may also have. In which case, I should politely reply, "Thanks for your opinion! I'm actually digging it because...", rather than patronize her for not knowing my history with the name Galaxy....Or, more succinctly? Don't take things so personally.Array
