[Opinions] WDYT of Killian?
I have always loved the name Killian and will probably give this name to my first son. What do you think about that name?

I love it.....But it does make me think of the word kill, but that's fine. It's said KIL-e-an. Here's a link to a great site where you can listen to it pronounced and many other great irish names. ^_^ http://www.babynamesofireland.com/pages/boy-names-c-d.html---------------------------------------------------------------------

Kill Ian?You all seem to have homicidal tendencies ;). Would it make a difference to you if it was spelled Cillian or Kilian? Anyway, I'm German and in German it doesn't sound like "killing" at all.

But Cillian would be pronounced as SillianAt least to my pronounciation rules. And the Irish pronounciation is not known for everyone.I'm not English either. In Swedish "kille" means "guy" and "killing" means kid (a goat's kid). But almost everyone knows English, so we make these homicidal associations.

Not in Irish it wouldn't, but it's a fair comment :-)

It's a lovely name, with a french ring to it.

That's true. In German it is usually spelled Kilian and pronounced KEE-li-an. So I'll better stick to that.

I like it a lot, but I prefer the spelling Cillian.

I just can't get past the "Kill". I like the traditional spelling of Cillian, but would be afraid it would be mispronounced all his life. I can see using it (spelling Cillian) as a mn, though.

also Kylian is another way to spell it

I like the name Killian even if it makes me think of Killian's Irish Red (a kind of beer). Kieran is a name I also like that has the same feel without alcohol or "kill" associations.

I don't care for it at all. The Kill- aspect of it really turns me off from it. Plus, I don't find it at all masculine sounding.

I also love this name but only with the spelling Kilian. I guess in Germany there isn´t the "Kill-Ian"-problem because of another pronounciation. I pronounce it KEE-lian while English speaking person pronounce it KILL-ian.

Sorry, I think of Killer and killin'. But this may be just me.There was a Swedish saint, called Ilian. I like this one better but English-speaking people may assocate it with "ill". WDYT of Julian?

JulianIt's ok, but it sounds a bit like a girls' name to me and I don't like unisex-style names.

I kind of like it, but it reminds me a bit too much of "kill" and of a boy I met a while ago...his name was Killian (but I think he spelled it Quílian...CRAZY adaptation to the Catalan phonetics!) and he wasn't the nicest kid I've met, really. :-/
