[Opinions] Willodean
I was reading the Baby Name Blog (an interesting read for all name addicts - http://thebabynamewizard.ivillage.com/) and they were mentioning the girls' name Willodean and how there is no record of its meaning. I find this name really interesting - I think I like it. So what are your opinions of it and have you ever heard of it before?

Nickolodean, that is what it reminds me of.

One of Dolly Partons' sisters was named Willodean. Don't remember if that's the exact spelling, but it's close enough. It has popped up time to time, mostly a rural southern thing, it seems. Kind of old. I'm not fond of it, I like Willow just fine.

Willadeen is the way it's spelled, I believe. It also seems to be the most common spelling.

It does have a certain charm. I'd like it in the middle spot.

I'd prefer Willow or Willa. I'm assuming Willodean is pronounced like Willow + Dean. Part of me wants to say it like wil-LOH-dee-in, like nickelodeon.

I'm assuming Willodean is pronounced like Willow + Dean. It's supposed to be more like Willa-Dean, from what I've read--WIL-uh-deen? :)Array

AH! I was just reading that post this afternoon! I agree, Willodean is an interesting name. I find the sound of it really appealing, but I'm not sure how I feel about the spelling. Willadean might be better?I had never heard of the name until I read the post, but I did google it and found some references of it being used.

I think it'd be an absolutely ace middle name--it has a pretty sound to me, and the way the syllables fall (WIL-uh-deen) means it'd flow nicely with a lot of FNs, IMO. And it's quaint and homespun sounding to me, which is appealing to my ears.In other words, I like it, too. :)Array
