hi my name is alexia and i have many friends around the world that pronounce it a-LE-xia.the problem is that i am greek and we pronounce it ale-XI-a. even some greek people pronounce it a-LE-xia because they think it sounds tredy that way or just to tease me. anyway it doesn't bother me at all! why does everybody have to know how to spell and pronounce my name correctly?? am i a celeb or sth??lol
plus mind you my dad's dad was from asia minor and we also have a pretty wierd surname. i've heard both my name and my surname pronounced wrong from tons of teachers at school but i never cared.th funnest thing was when a pe teacher once said to me "ok, a-LE-xia, how do you pronounce your surname??"! everybody laughed including me!

Your post confused me until about halfway through. Everyone doesn't have to know how to spell and pronounce every name correctly but it sort of irks me when people get annoyed when their creatively spelled name is mispronounced. It is one thing if the person has a fairly normal name (like Leah, Samuel, Daisy) and people are not pronouncing it correctly, because then the person attempting to pronounce it is simply ignorant. Your name would also be an exception as it is not creatively spelled. I do think that people should understand that names are pronounced differently in different countries or are spelled in different ways. When something is just made-up off of the top of ones head though, that doesn't make sense to me.
