[Opinions] Melinda
How do you like the name Melinda? How do you imagine a Melinda? Is it uncommon, old-fashioned or cheesy to English native speakers?

It's not my style, but there is a really pretty girl at my church with this name, so I think it's pretty.

I don't much like Melinda. The "inda" suffix seems very articial to me. Melany, or even the trendier Melissa, would be more clasic._____________________________________________________________________"I marmaladed a slice of toast with something of a flourish, and I don't suppose I have ever come much closer to saying 'Tra-la-la as I did the lathering, for I was feeling in mid-season form this morning."El

I have such horrible horrible experiences with a Melinda that I now despise that name.

It makes me think of a overweight person. Overweight. I wouldnt use it. Plus nn Mindy or Missy is not very pretty either.Nikki :)Proud Mama! See My Profile!

I've generally thought of Melinda as an older name (like my mother's generation, born in the 60's). Like some others I see her as stubborn and a little stuck up. I've heard it a lot with the NN Mendy. While not fond of the associations, I still kind of like the name.Lindsay

I knew a Melinda when I was in high school. She had blonde, straight, shoulder-length hair & blue eyes. Most of the time she was nice enough, outgoing, helpful, though maybe a bit stuck-up. But she could be bitchy behind her friends' backs, so kinda two-faced. I prefer the name Melina myself, much prettier/classier imo.

It's okay. A bit old-fashioned, but that doesn't bother me. I imagine a Melinda as being very strong and stubborn. -Amy-

I like it. It's been growing on me a lot lately. I imagine a Melinda as a sweet, cute girl, but strong. I think it's rather uncommon and a little bit old-fasioned, and it's really lovely, imo.

I like it. It ages well. I imagine a girl named Melinda with black hair, brown eyes, and a happy smile. She's always kind and helpful. I find it a little uncommon, but still pretty.
