[Opinions] Sophia
Sophia as a FN -- WDYT?
The crux of the matter is whether or not it is just too popular to use. I'm not sure. I love it so much that I may, just may, be able to look past its popularity. And granted, till I have kids it may not even be very popular at all anymore.
If it does fall away, will you view it as dated?

I've got one sitting on my lap right at this moment :)
My cousin, Sophia Victoria. She is 15 months and so so cute, so I have a good association with the name for sure. I like it, it's pretty and has such a lovely meaning. Yes, it is very popular, but I think if you love a name popularity shouldn't stop you. I guess it's up to you to decide if you love it enough to ignore the popularity or not- if that makes sense.

Sophia Victoria makes me love the name -- she's beautiful!
I've never known a single Sophia, so yes, one day the name will seem dated to me, but I think it depends on one's frame of reference. Had I known other Sophias, it wouldn't seem dated at all. It also has a solid history so it wasn't a recent creation (ex., Nevaeh) that popped out of nowhere.

I really like it and wouldn't say that it was over-popular but then that probably depends where you live but I prefer the spelling Sofia.
I like it MAYBE a bit more as a middle name, but I think its lovely either way. I don't find it dated.
Sophia is beautiful and classic, so I doubt it will ever entirely fall out of style. It's one of those timeless names that can never be trendy or relegated to a specific decade. As for being too popular...I know the SSA has it high on their Top 1000 list, but I suspect if you added up every variation of Isabella, Caitlin, Madison, Addison, [insert tryndee name here], and Sophia, and then compared them, Sophia would fall much further down the list.
Sophia is precious, but everyone and the sister is using it. I've met at least 4 little Sophias in the last six months. I don't think it will become dated though, it's still too classy for that.
If you can look past popularity, I say use it.

I really like the name Sophia, though I, personally, much prefer the spelling Sofia. I think it's a lovely, feminine name, and don't really think that it'll be considered dated if it falls in popularity. It's a classy name imo.
I love, love, love Sophia. I've adored it since fifth grade and would use it in a heartbeat. I don't think it's too popular (but then, popularity doesn't really bother me), but nobody can answer that question for you. There's no marker that automatically makes a name "too popular". Some people won't use a name if it's in the top 500. Others have no qualms about using the #1 name.
I don't think I'd view it as dated, but I don't think people thought that Susan and Jennifer would be viewed as dated either, so you never know.

It's way too popular for me to use. It'll be dated in 10-20 years. Before that, it may still have enough charm to work.
