What do you think of the name Rhoswen for a girl?

Where is this from?
I like the sound (ROZ-wehn?), but that H strikes me as unnecessary.

Agreed.
The sound is nice, assuming that it's prn. ROZ-wehn, but the spelling is misleading. To me, at least.

Thank you. :)
It's a Welsh name that's only been in use since the last century. A modern name, I suppose you could say, equivalent to Saoirse or Aislinn in Ireland in terms of usage and modernity.
Rhoswen means 'fair, white or blessed rose'. Rhos- coming from the Welsh word for rose: rhosyn.
It's pronounced 'hross-wen'.

I think this is really pretty and unusual...i like it!!
It sounds like two names mixed together (Rose-Eowyn), even though it is likely not.
I agree...
I prefer Roisin =]
Rhoswen doesn't look very nice to the eyes IMO. and i think people would have pron. problems.
edit: spelling

It's not. For an explanation of etymology, refer to my response to Adelle. :)
Oh, I wasn't saying it wasn't a real name, simply that it didn't look like a real name and more like the trend of mixing names.
Ahh, for some reason I thought you were asking about its etymology. My apologies. :)
It isn't a problem
Hrm. I'm not sure. I like Rhonwen, but I've never seen this before. It's possible it could grow on me. The "hross" sound, though, just doesn't appeal to me.
I prefer Rhonwen
